Building the leadership capacity of our students plays an important role in equipping them for any opportunities or challenges that they may be faced with in life both in and beyond school. All CCGPS schools provide a range of leadership opportunities for their students.
Students have an opportunity to take part in Student Representative Councils (SRC) or school parliaments at a school level. These activities provide a student voice which often influences decisions at a school level. Schools also offer opportunities for students to take on leadership roles such as School Captains, Vice Captains, and School leaders.
Some students are invited to attend leadership conferences such as the GRIP Student Leadership Conference. Students are given opportunities develop their leadership skills and listen to well known motivational and inspirational speakers.
Many schools run peer support/peer tutoring activities on a daily basis. These programs not only build the leadership qualities of older students, but provide an enormous benefit for the younger students that are involved.
Working with the community to build leadership
Schools also often work with community organisations such as Lions International to help strengthen student leadership qualities. Programs such as Lions Youth of the Year and Leo Clubs are run in conjunction with our local high schools to further develop student leadership qualities.
